Cherish and Nurture

Meeting other people in a similar position to me gave me a chance to exchange ideas and discuss any worries. I was able to network, explore my business idea, while boosting my confidence in business!

Danielle’s story

Danielle found from an early age that her calling in life was caring for children and helping mothers with their young ones. After a number of years as a childcare worker, Danielle started to realise she was doing so much more than an everyday job, sharing these experiences with the women she was working with.

“I helped the women in every aspect of caring for their families. I have taught mothers new skills and even helped them with more upsetting issues such as bereavement and life transitions, as well as teaching them about bonding and attachment.”

Even outside of work, Danielle was spending time with families and advising them on matters such as feeding, sleeping problems and colic. Eventually, the regular phone calls from parents gave her the confidence she needed to do this under her own name. That’s when Danielle came to Outset Cornwall, to launch her new business,.

“I found the programme very educational and relaxed, which made it a lot easier to learn. The sessions gave me the initial boost I needed to go out there and give it a go.”

“Meeting other people in a similar position to me gave me a chance to exchange ideas and discuss any worries. I was able to network, explore my business idea, while boosting my confidence in business!”

“I have so many ideas, and the Outset programme has really helped me to gain perspective and focus on what I need to do now to make my future ambitions a reality.”

Danielle’s new business, Cherish and Nurture, is a personalised care service, helping new parents with their journey of starting a new family, right from pregnancy to parenting techniques.

“I believe that families throughout Cornwall deserve specialised, practical and hands on support to empower them and help them to find solutions to everyday challenges. Cherish and Nurture is that stepping stone that parents need for a healthy future.”

Since launching in August 2012, Danielle’s business is now running five different support programmes, which include antenatal advice, postnatal support, baby, twins or multiples advice and help for babies with additional needs. Through the support programmes, Danielle promotes a common sense approach to parenting skills while teaching about parenting styles, baby brain development, baby massage, colic, communication and family relationships.

Outset Advisors Jan Darby and Chris Hassall are also working with Danielle to help her develop her business plans to include a Doula service for expectant mothers, and a babysitting service for hotels and holiday parks in the area.

“I have so many ideas, and the Outset programme has really helped me to gain perspective and focus on what I need to do now to make my future ambitions a reality. The sessions provided me with the sounding board I needed to develop my new venture. The business side is becoming less and less daunting thanks to the advisors’ help. Thanks Outset!”
