Introduction to enterprise

Our Introduction to enterprise sessions help to prepare you to start your own business and explore your ideas in a relaxed environment.

Newquay Session

Within our sessions, as well as exploring your idea we think about whether starting a business is right for you. We integrate business skills training, personal development and life management skills. These help to increase your confidence, knowledge and motivation on your business start-up journey.

Our 3 hourly sessions take place at the same venue every week and include:

A ‘Creative Thinking’ workshop where you can explore transferable skills, experience, strengths, passions and interests to help generate real business ideas, or build on an existing one. We will also discuss, identify and evaluate the barriers you face, both real and perceived, and explore the many ways of overcoming them. Start on your Customer Profile and Market Research.

I2E 2 – Would you give yourself a job?

This session will help you consider what entrepreneurial qualities that you have and how they relate to your success in business. Review your initial Market Research in relation to your business idea, whilst linking with Time Management, Goal Setting and your Personal Survival Budget. Also start on your Business Plan.

I2E 3 – Introduction to financial planning

Taking the fear out of business finance! Is the thought of having to do a forecast for your business plan filling you with dread? We show you how to take the guesswork out of creating forecasts and profit & loss accounts with our simple to use tools coupled with practical knowledge that helps you get the most from documents that really can show you more than just your bank balance.

I2E 4 – Costing & pricing

Once you have finished Introduction to enterprise you might find it helpful to attend our workshops before moving on to our Business start-up sessions. We will be holding various different standalone workshops on different topics throughout the year.

Business structures and registering with HMRC

This workshop focuses on the different types of business structures together with their benefits and limitations, leading on to the areas you need to consider when starting a business. Following this, the importance of writing a Business Plan and goal setting will be discussed. We also take you through when and how to register your business with HMRC step by step and what other areas the new business owner need to consider, such as taking on staff, licences and insurances.

Keep an eye on our Events page for when these workshops are taking place or email telling us which of the workshops you would like to attend and we can let you know when and where they are taking place.
