Kate Perkin

Programme Director

Kate has been involved in many Cornwall-based enterprise, skills and employment projects, and in addition to her management and people skills, has a wide range of enterprise talents including marketing, events, communications, planning and budgeting.

Some of Kate’s adventures include dune buggy racing in the Sahara, climbing a waterfall in Jamaica, and being fingerprinted by the FBI – but only because of a bomb threat on her plane!


Ian Williams

Client Engagement Manager

Ian is a qualified mortgage broker and was the Compliance Manager for one of the largest mortgage brokers and packagers in the South West where he successfully ran a team of independent advisors and looked after the financial requirements of his clients. Prior to this, he spent 12 years as a Business Development Manager in the South West developing business links with insurance brokers and setting up bespoke insurance schemes.

He is a keen photographer, which he combines with his love of travel, and he cycles regularly to keep fit.


Chris Hassall

Client Engagement Manager

Chris has experience of starting and running several businesses, The Beer Cellar, Red Elephant Beer Cellar as well as co-founding the Firebrand Brewing Co brand where he specialised in sales into the London market and export. He also attempted to start a renewable energy business in 2012. He has also worked in business coaching and training for several years.

Chris has many interests including being an avid DIY enthusiast having renovated several houses. He hitch-hiked from Wales to Morocco as a student in 3 days and 22 lifts raising money for an education charity in Africa!


Pam Sekula

Client Engagement Manager

Pam’s experience of working with employers both in the public and voluntary sector has resulted in her establishing an extensive network and understanding of organisations in Cornwall and beyond. Pam has many years of experience in the delivery of Business start-up, training and employment projects, providing individuals pathways and solutions of overcoming barriers to training, employment, and self employment.

Pam moved to Cornwall in 1977 and started her own business, Riviera Beauty Services and was lucky enough to see lots of bands, whilst working for Cornwall Coliseum. Pam, a keen gardener also enjoys the countryside and walking her 2 golden retrievers.


Nick Hawker

Client Engagement Manager

Nick has experience of starting and running several international businesses. Nick was the founder and CEO of Vitafoods Europe, the world’s largest nutraceutical event for ingredients and raw materials for the dietary supplements and functional food and beverages industries. He has also worked with some of the world’s leading companies as a mindset and cultural transformation consultant.

Nick is a keen tennis player and has found himself in some unusual situations on his travels including drinking vodka with the Russian Mafia in Poland and eating 100 year old eggs in Hong Kong (not recommended!).


Jan Darby

Start-up Trainer

Jan has extensive experience of supporting and advising clients, especially through one-to-one sessions to focus on overcoming individual barriers. She’s a whiz on presenting skills and managing budgets, and also has direct experience of running her own business.

Living in Newquay, Jan’s a bit of an adrenalin junkie, and has kayaked down the Zambezi and was capsized by a hippo – thankfully surviving to tell the tale!


Richard Gunton

Start-up Trainer

Richard set up his first business with help from the Princes Trust & EPL. Since then he has set up and managed three successful business operations, including a UK-based immigration service to Australia and New Zealand and a recruitment consultancy in New Zealand. Richard has also worked for Business Link as a business advisor.

Whilst in Australia, Richard landed an extras part in the soap Home & Away and his dulcet tones can regularly be heard on Radio Plymouth, where he presents the Saturday afternoon show.


Tracey Eustice

Event and Marketing Manager

Tracey joined the Outset team at the start of 2017, bringing a wealth of marketing and communications expertise to the role. Having worked in-house for a number of corporates as a senior communications manager, Tracey has also successfully run her own marketing and design business along with her husband for nearly two decades.

An avid keep fit enthusiast, Tracey is a fully qualified gym instructor and personal trainer. Setting up her own fitness business, Mature Fitness, just over a year ago, she has devised her own fitness programme and regularly holds classes in a number of areas around Cornwall.


Sarah Turnbull

Partnership Coordinator

Sarah is originally from Coventry and moved to Cornwall in 2010. She has previously worked for the Skills Funding Agency and Learning & Skills Council as a Contract Manager and as a Personnel Officer.

Sarah enjoys walking, cycling and reading. She also enjoys traveling, particularly to the USA. She has been to New York, Florida, New Hampshire and Niagara Falls and hopes to visit some of the more westerly states in the future.


Rachel Marshall


Rachel joined Outset following a move from Milton Keynes to Cornwall. Rachel has worked in a variety of sectors, all of which have created many exciting new challenges. Rachel possess extensive PA and Senior Executive Business support experience and is able to transfer these skills into her role within the team and its clients.

Rachel loves the Cornish coastline and its people and makes the most of it by exploring new places. Her love of cooking and gardening has taken a new lease of life with all the wonderful produce on her doorstep.


Jane Hooper

Web Manager

After Jane left the WRNS she joined Century Litho as a Typesetter and later, in 2003, Jane started her own design business, Hooper Graphics. However in June 2008 she studied Multimedia Design, where she also won the Logo Design Award.

Jane still loves the printed word but is very excited with how digital media is rapidly changing. She is a very proud Cornish woman and her love of the county is shown in her watercolour paintings.
